Have you applied your blog or website for Google Adsense and been rejected? It actually happens more often than you would think. Google is very selective about what websites they allow to hold their ads, and for good reason. If you don't make them money, it is not worth their time. Like any business, they are in it to make money.
Traffic:
If you are looking to monetize your website, traffic should be your main concern. Being declined for Google adsense does not mean that you are doomed to never have ads on your site, Google adsense will let you reapply after you gain more traffic. Once your traffic has improved, you may reapply to Google Adsense to monetize your website.
Other Ad Revenue:
Google is not the only form of advertizements that you can put on your website. Other ways are Amazon Affiliates, Commission Junction, and many individual websites offer ad revenue for their products.
Do not limit yourself to just one type of ad:
Limiting yourself to one type of ad, limits the amount of money that you can make. Mixing many different types of revenue can help you develop long term residual income. The more options your readers or followers have, the more chances you have to make money.
Over Producing Ads:
One of the biggest mistakes that you can make when putting ads on your website, is making it look like the classifieds section of the news paper. Ads mean nothing without quality content to go with it. Very little content with a lot of ads will not only cause sites like Google Adsense to reject you, but it will also cause your readers to quickly close out the window.
Reapplying To Google Adsense:
Once you have several hundred readers per day coming to your site, you can reapply to Google Adsense. This means that your ads will be viewed enough that Google will make money from your website, which is exactly why they are in business.
However, if you are declined, look at your type of content and ensure that it meets the requirements for Google Adsense. Unfortunately, they cannot accept all types of content and there is a long list of what they can't accept. If Google doesn't accept your type of content, try other options for monetizing your website.
