Testing your DSL connection speed will allow you to compare the speed of your Internet connection to that of other providers. Given the ease with which this information can be gathered, there is no excuse not to learn the speed of your broadband connection.
Instructions

Click on one of the DSL speed tests found in the Resources section of this article. There are three options provided and each is free to use. Once you click one, a new webpage will appear.

Locate the button on the new webpage that initiates the test. The button will be labelled "start test" or "begin test," depending on which test you choose.

Wait for the test to finish. Your DSL connection speed will be automatically displayed on the screen once the test is complete.
Tips & Warnings
You may want to test your connection speed with more than one of the options provided, and average the results together for a more precise measurement.
